Here’s my fourteenth player bio from my top 14 players in this year NBA draft as I see it:
DION WAITERS – SPH – SG – SYRACUSE – 6’4 – 221 – 12.6ppg –2.3rpg – 2.5apg
STRENGTHS:
Takes it to the rim strong, can finish and isn’t afraid of contact.
Solid NBA body.
Knows how to score the ball in a number of ways and has that scorer’s mentality.
Tough kid from South Philly who plays like he has something to prove to a lot of people.
His game is more suited for the NBA game than the college game.
Good handle, which means he can play the 1 and the 2 and create his own shot.
WEAKNESSES:
His jumper isn’t consistent and needs a lot of work, which isn’t good for a shooting guard.
While he’s built like a brick-you-know-what-house, he is somewhat undersized for the 2-guard position.
If he is that good, why couldn’t he start at Syracuse?
Can he play man-to-man defense at the highest level after playing all zone in college?
Is he versatile because he can play the 1 and the 2, or is he a man without a true position?
